An Armful of Awesome Remainders at Red Hill
More Red Hill News
We have a bumper crop of remainders coming in at Red Hill! Here's a sampling of my favorites:
1.The City of Saints and Madmen, by Jeff Vandermeer ($4.98): Phantasmagoric and wildly inventive, this novel will forever change the way you think about squid, fungi, and the life and death of cities.
2.Birds of America, by Lorrie Moore ($5.98): This collection of hilarious, poignant short stories is the perfect antidote to rainy-day ennui.
3.A Distant Mirror, by Barbara Tuchman ($6.98): If you think the present day is a messed up time to be alive, this immensely readable history of the 14th century will both entertain you and make you count your blessings.
4.Snow Crash, by Neal Stephenson ($6.98): This novel has become a speculative fiction classic since its publication in the early 90s, and for good reason: it in more fun than a barrel of caffeinated monkeys.
5.Mountains Beyond Mountains, by Tracy Kidder ($5.98): Kidder's profile of Partners in Health founder Paul Farmer is engaging and enlightening in equal measure, and necessary reading for anyone who wants a better understanding of global public health issues.
6.Gardening at the Dragon's Gate, by Wendy Johnson ($8.98): If you crossed Annie Dillard with Thich Nhat Hanh, you'd get something like this beautiful meditation on working with the land. Johnson is a master gardener at Marin's Green Gulch Farm, so this book is also full of awesome region-specific gardening advice.
And there is more- so much more! Come see us and sample the book bounty of spring.
